PART TWO: IMPLEMENTATION

Giorgio Buccellati – December 2021

Implementation came into being well before the theory. It was the practical need to get both primary data and interpretive essays into a digital framework that encouraged me to think about the underlying principles. There was no internet at the time, and thus no websites. But the system that came into existence was ideally suited for what turned out to be a wholly new communicative vehicle. Thus the theory about websites I am presenting here developed as a reflection of the critical thought that went along the construction of actual case studies – “specimens,” as it were, of this entity we want to study here.
